ABOUT CAF
Who We Are
Christian Action Fellowship (CAF) is a vibrant, non-denominational, student-led Christian organization rooted in biblical principles and founded in 1986 at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. CAF believes in the redemption of our sins and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and that Jesus is Lord and the Messiah. The organization exists to glorify Him by cultivating a community of faith, discipleship, and service. Through earnest prayer, deep study of Scripture, and a commitment to the Great Commission, CAF empowers students to grow spiritually, lead with integrity, and impact both campus and community. CAF aims to show the highest level of commitment to the Christian faith, the organization, and each individual. CAF is more than a fellowship—it's a family where academic excellence, Christ-centered living, and spirit-led purpose converge to shape leaders for Christ and society.

Academic Pillar
CAF is deeply committed to promoting and enhancing a culture of academic excellence among its members. This pillar recognizes that intellectual growth is a form of stewardship and worship. Members are encouraged to pursue their studies with diligence, discipline, and integrity, viewing academic success not just as personal achievement but as a testimony of faith in action. The Academic Excellence Team (AET), under the Social Action Subcommittee, supports this pillar by helping students thrive academically while remaining spiritually grounded.
Spiritual Pillar
This pillar centers on leading individuals to the Christian faith and nurturing them into true disciples of Jesus Christ. Members are encouraged to devote themselves to earnest prayer, obedience to Scripture, holiness, and fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20). The Evangelism and Prayer Subcommittee (EPS) oversees teams such as Intercession, Cell Ministry, and the School of Ministers, which help members grow in spiritual maturity and cultivate a Spirit-led lifestyle.
Social Pillar
CAF recognizes that we are not only spiritual and intellectual beings, but also social ones—created for fellowship and community. This pillar emphasizes authentic relationships, emotional well-being, and active engagement in community development. Through initiatives like the Making a Difference Project (MDP) and Helping Hand Ministry (HHM), members are equipped to respond to social needs with love and practical support. Additionally, teams like the Social Action Team (SAT) help members bond as brothers and sisters in Christ, forming lifelong friendships rooted in faith.
Leadership Pillar
CAF is a student-led organization dedicated to developing leaders for the body of Christ and society. This pillar focuses on equipping members with the character, skills, and biblical values needed to lead with integrity and purpose. Through the Leadership and Political Awareness Desk (LPAD), students participate in leadership classes and seminars that prepare them to serve sacrificially and uphold the mission of CAF. Students are not only equipped to lead within CAF, but are also prepared to serve in broader contexts across the university, in their communities, and in the workplace—carrying forward the values of integrity, purpose, and Christ-centered leadership into the world. In addition to leadership development, LPAD hosts seminars on finances and business, broadening students’ understanding of key societal systems and empowering them to lead with wisdom and impact. LPAD also fosters positive engagement with political discourse, encouraging students to become more politically aware and actively involved in shaping society. The Council, comprising both executive committee members and team leaders, reflects a unified commitment to servant leadership and accountability.
